Shakeology Introduced Two New Vegan Shake Flavors in 2012
Shakeology introduced two new vegan flavors in 2012. Salt Lake City was recently named America’s Next Great Vegan City by VegNews. The magazine stated that Salt Lake City is on the “verge of vegan domination” because of their vegan street carts and vegan bakeries. Even non-vegan restaurants have started offering vegan and vegetarian options. Until now, there has been a lack of vegan meal replacement shakes on the market. In February 2012, Beachbody launched Vegan Tropical Strawberry Shakeology. Vegan Tropical Strawberry Shakeology uses brown rice protein and boasts 70+ superfoods. At the Beachbody Summit last month, Beachbody announced a second vegan flavor of Shakeology – Vegan Chocolate. Vegan Chocolate Shakeology uses both brown rice protein and pea protein. Shakeology is gluten-free and certified low glycemic index. It does not contain corn or soy. It is a complete vegan meal replacement shake. Shakeology also helps with weight loss and can be purchased in a Challenge Pack with a Beachbody workout such as P90X or Insanity.
Restaurants Near Salt Lake City with Vegan Options
While it is not difficult to find vegan options at most restaurants, there are Salt Lake City restaurants that cater exclusively to plant based diets. Sage’s Cafe in downtown Salt Lake City is a popular choice. The vegan street cart Union Street Eats can be found at Washington Square Park on Saturday and at Cakewalk Vegan Bakery on Sundays. Salt Lake City has become more focused on plant based health and local, organic food. There has been an increase of farmer markets from the Downtown Alliance to Thanksgiving Point. With movies such as Forks Over Knives and Food, Inc., people have been paying more attention to their food sources. Shakeology is a great option to stay vegan and gluten free.
